Missions

IMPACT is a youth ministry program designed to involve your young people in short-term missions around the world. This on the field training experience will enable them to increase their witness and vision.  Our purpose is for teens to see where they fit into God’s plan for evangelizing the world (John 4:35).  We must do all within our means to encourage our young people to serve the Lord.  Although this task is very challenging, it is an absolute necessity and must be done faithfully and continually (Deut. 6:8).

During His earthly ministry, our Savior put a great deal of emphasis on missions; therefore, we should do the same (Matt. 28:20).  Because God has given us the Great Commission, we have established the IMPACT program.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE?

This program is specifically designed for Senior High teens (9th - 12th grade), who regularly at-tend Brookside Baptist Church.  This is a concentrated program designed to challenge young people in their walk with the Lord and also encourage them in ministry.  Throughout their four years of being involved in Impact a teen will have had the opportunity to serve God around the world both in Big Cities in America to Small villages in foreign countries.

HOW IS IMPACT FINANCED?

The Christian’s attitude towards finances for any endeavor must be the proper balance of faith and stewardship.  As we prepare our teens to serve the Lord, we must create opportunities for their faith to be tested.  Each person will have to provide a pre-determined amount of money to participate in IMPACT.  We would also challenge our church families to give support in Two specific areas for this ministry:

  1. Give Sacrificially (II Cor. 8:1-2)
  2. Pray earnestly for God’s calling (I Thes. 5:24)

God’s call to the Christian most often requires living by faith in the area of finances.

WHAT WILL IMPACT MEMBERS DO?

The work of a missionary is multi-faceted.  Our goal in IMPACT will be to experience life as a missionary.  While each field has its own unique ministries, some of our ministries in the past have included, VBS, Youth Rallies, Door to Door, Canvassing, Manual Labor, etc...  While ministry is our main responsibility of the trip, there are always times for fun, sight seeing, and great fellowship.

A Christian will learn first hand that there is “Joy in serving Jesus.”   IMPACT members will experience leading others to Christ, teaching Bible classes, special music, and many other opportunities.  Young men will preach, lead singing, and be put in other places of leadership and service.  Truly IMPACT members will come to understand first-hand what it means to “abound in the work of the Lord” (I Cor. 15:58).

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Believing that God’s Word teaches that a person chosen for God’s work must be willing and pure (Romans 12:1-2) IMPACT participants must be Christians striving to honor the Lord in their lives.  While we understand that it is impossible for a man to know another’s heart, no one will be allowed to travel who displays actions and/or attitudes contrary to the Scriptures.  In addition to these expectations, each IMPACT member will have individual requirements that will help them grow in their walk with God and challenge them spiritually with things such as:  Bible Study, De-votions, Prayer, Participation, Verse Memory and Attendance.  These requirements must be met in order for a Teen to be able to participate on a Mission’s Trip.  We want the young people who will be serving on the mission field be walking with God and con-forming to His image, those are the types of people that make an IMPACT!  These Mission’s trips are designed for young people who are serious about their spiritual growth!
